Description Here we can see the main subject is 'helping out the artist' by sketching himself into existence leaving the artist free to paint. The naughty child manages to lapse over from another sketch to begin erasing him. This is partially inspired by M.C. Escher's 'Drawing Hands' who often used paradoxes in his work. Andy King Art, Colchester Member Since January 2013 Artist Statement "I am a professional digital artist focusing primarily on the use of photo manipulation. My ideas can come to me at any time, from a variety of different sources, such as a short daydream to an unrelated conversation with somebody or even from watching a TV show. Once I can see what I want to create, I photograph all the material I will need often resulting in travelling to the right locations just to get the perfect shots.
In a lot of my work you will find traces of inspiration from great artists such as Rob Gonsalves, M.C.Escher, Salvador Dali and John Pugh as well as from TV shows such as The Twilight Zone series, Supernatural, The Lost Room and even Dungeons and Dragons.
I strive for there to be an emotional reaction within my work that may not always become apparent until the viewer learns the title of the piece. In some of my darker work I like the viewer to be a little uncomfortable without the piece being distasteful. I love surrealistic, fantasy and dreamscape art as well as optical illusionary and so within my dream art you will find a warmer, more tender emotion within the pictures."
