Description This painting was studied from a photograph in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The moon was shining brightly through the thick, waxy leaves of the trees. I have layered the acrylic with a dark green color over the black to add a more three dimentional feel to the painting, and to bring out the texture and layer of the leaves.
Evelyn Curry, Cambridgeshire Member Since May 2010 Artist Statement I love to paint, draw and take photographs. I am commissioned to draw and paint portraits using pencils and oils on paper and canvas. I also like to paint using my photographs as studies or as inspiration. My photographs are created through my travel experiences. I am interested in color and symmetry. I prefer the subjects of my photos to be slightly on the candid side. I endeavor to capture the essence of a place and the characteristics of an environment that I find specific to the area. My manipulated collaged photographic prints are a further exploration of this concept. With multiple images, I am able to give the visual illusion of transforming a two dimensional photograph into a more three dimensional view.
