Description With the full moon reflected in the slowly shimmering waters and stars twinkling in the nighttime sky, this pen and ink piece gives a sense of tranquility. The castle is based off of the architecture of Himeji castle in Japan. Mount Fuji is illuminated by the moonlight in the background. And the Shinto water shrine adds a calming sense of spirituality to the piece.
William Olson, Owatonna Member Since August 2009 Artist Statement I am a farm boy from southern Minnesota and have been drawing since I was five years old.
Fantasy and Comic Book art are by far my most favorite things to draw, although I also do art from many other genres such as western, wildlife, african safari, architectural, and portraits. Pen and Ink is my favorite medium, but I also do a lot of work with graphite, colored pencil, and watercolor.
I am a graduate of the Commercial Art and Technical Drawing program at South Central College in Mankato, Minnesota. I showcase my work in at least a half dozen shows and competitions each summer where I have won numerous prizes and awards over the last 14 years. I have work on display and for sale year around at the Austin Area Art Center, in Austin, MN, where I am an active member as well as President of their Board of Directors.
Art has been a lifelong pleasure for me and will continue to be so as long as I am able to find inpiration in life. Fortunately, my imagination is endless, so that should be a very long time.
