Description A result of another exploratory study, this time I was heavy in my approach but the combination of the edgy colors evens things out. I was after a dreamy, surreal, almost underwater quality because of the nature of the white rose. I just wanted to give the photo a gentle touch of the very thing that inspired me to shoot the photo in the first place.
Steve Herman, New York Member Since September 2007 Artist Statement
Steve Lewis Herman was born in Washington DC and grew up in Potomac, MD. Over the years, he was exposed to many forms of art and was influenced by his Aunt and Grandmother, both of whom were artists. He began his art career at 3 years old using mixed media (apple sauce, olive juice, crayons and finger nail polish) on freshly painted dry wall. Steve also loved taking things apart and reassembling them in interesting, non-functional ways, much like his father. He loved music and learned guitar and to this day, he is a natural dancer and loves rhythm. Later in life, Mr. Herman quickly adapted to the new computer technology and he now lives in New York City where he enjoys his Vespa, Zootr scooter and anything else that has wheels.
