My name is Janpen Thamma and most people called me Pen. I am a self-taught artist who found art and music oxygen to the soul. Born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand and recently living in New York, USA.
I never stop creating art since the day that I can scribble with my fingers. I rarely plan what I'm going to paint. I just let the moment express itself and it was as if I was a tool in this creating process which I became a tool of communicating device. I also like the viewers to interpret my artworks because I think each individual sees and projects things or image differently due to their own experiences.
As an observer who experiences life on a daily basis - I use simple form of communication called art as a tool to capture those moments directly, indirectly, passionately and curiously. I seldom knew what each piece would turn out to be - which was often surprising, rewarding and fun. There was no expectations whatsoever - just be!
My studying in Buddhism also has a great impact in my point of view. Therefore, these art works were created after the unaware digestive process of experiencing life: moment by moment, breath by breath.
I do not have sophisticated words to describe my own works. I usually let the viewers tell me what they see, think, feel, etc. For me that was the most fun and joyful. The love for communication and expression were the drive to deliver this universal language of loving kindness, beauty in nature, people and humanity. Every brush strokes, lines and dots were there representing feelings, ambiance, peacefulness and awareness of how I see each individual has a uniqueness of its own with a character that make this world the way it is.
