Description My girls, they are the reason I still kept on drawing and painting through the years, despite having little time to devote to it. They've always been so inspiring to me and continue to be my favorite artistic muses. Of course, I get a kick out of having a little fun at their expense, but their good sports about it. They're so use to it by now it's like oh look mom's drawing another silly picture of us---whatever!Pencil drawing, digitally painted.
Shawna Rowe Member Since July 2012 Artist Statement I grew up in a creative family who loved photography, music, art and random hiking adventures. That helped me to develop a love for nature and artistic expression early on. I've never limited myself to one particular medium but I do favor graphic shapes, bold colors and whimsical style. Whatever the medium, I try to include some or all of those elements in my work.
My family has always been a big inspiration and they feature in a series of satirical cartoons that I've done just for fun over the years. Each year I make a new cartoon to celebrate each of my daughter's birthdays. I've also made my own greeting cards for family members over the years.
Lately, I've been making detailed magazine collages. Each one is made of 100% recycled paper cut into tiny shapes and carefully applied much like paint onto canvas. It's an art-form that requires a lot of time and patience but I love this unusual way of creating. Thank you for visiting my gallery!
