Description I was inspired to create this series after seeing Richard Diebenkorns Ocean Park paintings. I drove along Ocean Drive in Corpus Christi Texas every day for a year and witnessed the bay as it constantly changed not just daily but, also every mile.
Reuben Njaa, Laredo,TX Member Since October 2006 Artist Statement For over 20 years I was a commerical photographer starting out as an assistant in New York City and freelancer for about 7 or 8 years I moved to Minneapolis. I opened my own studio shooting for clients in 46 of the 50 states. I also opened and operated a very unique and successful portrait studio in the Uptown area of Minneapolis for a number of years. Finally coming full circle I moved back to Texas and continued my photography business, until I decided to go in a different direction - gallery shows and making a living as an artist. I found out what many others before me already - it ain't easy. So I put my education to work and currently I'm a Professor of Photography and Computer Arts at Texas A&M International University in Laredo, Texas. Laredo is unlike any place I have ever lived and it may be unlike any other place in this country. Laredo's in the US but it's roots and heart are in Mexico making this a facinating place to live, work and observe. The people here are some of the nicest and the friendliest anywhere I have lived. My work has taken dramtic turns in new directions in part because of living here.
