Description Swans, type and sculptural relief combined with bold swatches of color. Juxtaposition of abstract textures and patterns with representational imagery is a common theme in our work, in the hope that common perceptions might be altered. Cut and paste collage techniques are further enhanced on the computer.
Pederbeck Arte Gruppe, Minneapolis, Minnesota Member Since August 2009 Artist Statement The act of creating art tends to be a solitary endeavor. And, through the years, both Don Aggerbeck and Jane Pederson have explored their individual artistic paths. Don has focused on creating works that reflect his interests in nature, in religions and philosophies, and in architectural designs. Jane has focused her interests on abstractions. She has played with color, textures, depth, light, minimalism, illusions and mark-making. Within the last few years, they have collaborated on artwork to see how the works would look by bringing all of these interests together. At present, this has taken the form of collage. The works include traditional cut and paste as well as digital techniques. As with any relationship, collaborating on something as personal as one’s art involves compromise, acceptance and growth. The artistic journey has opened both of them to explore different ideas and expand their artistic “vocabulary.” Also known as pederbeck Arté gruppe, Don and Jane create postcard art collages and exhibit framed reproductions of the collages. The postcards are mailed to friends, fellow artists and relatives and even played a role in their courtship and marriage. One of their collages was selected by the Emergency Foodshelf Network as an Artwork for Tummies holiday card for 2008 and 2009. Don and Jane met in 1989 while working for a fine art publisher. Both have backgrounds in art and produced artwork individually prior to their meeting and continue to do so. Don graduated from St. Olaf College and studied at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Jane has a degree in fine arts from The University of Iowa.
