DescriptionThis describes my emotions while walking through the streets at night in Tokyo in my neighborhood. As a foreigner in Japan, it can be very lonely at times, and I often think about the people inside their houses. It creates a barrier of inside/outside and I felt I had to put it down on paper. The yellow which appears in many of my paintings represents a sign of hope or longing, or belief in hope for humanity. This painting also appeared in a refereed exhibit in Tokyo.
Virginia Annette Jenkins Member Since November 2009 Artist Statement I have lived in Japan for almost twenty years and in this time my eyes opened. I aim for photographs that capture the soul inside things. I also shoot portraits, landscapes, abstracts, anything that leaves me with the desire to keep looking.
Many of my photographs were taken in Japan and other parts of Asia.
