Artist Statement Javier Merida is a Visual and Media Artist who grew up in Austin, TX a place where he discovered his love for the visual arts. He attended ACC for few years and then transferred to Emerson College, the first university in the US that dedicated itself to the studies of communication. While at Emerson, Javier worked as a Videographer and Video Editor for the Emerson Channel.

Javier currently lives in Miami and maintains a creative presence in Boston and Austin.
Javier has been able to provide his creative endeavors to Banana Republic, Patagonia, Abercrombie and Finch, and the television shows Judge Alex and Texas Justice. He is the president of Besos Films Media, an independent media production company.

Javier has developed the television pilot Ptown Guys and he also written the feature screenplay Love, Sex & Obsessions. He has also worked as a model and an extra in television and films.

In the last two years the author has created a digital archive of more than 7,000 images from a variety of subjects. However, macro shots and textures are elements that prevail in the majority of his works.
