Description I originally painted this in I believe 2003 or 2004. The original is sold. Now available as print. This would be especially great as a large canvas print. Somme France - A place always tragically remembered for the 'Battle of Somme' in World War One. Fought in Summer and Autumn of 1916. This battle is considered the bloodies battle in all of human history with more then one million casualties. The poppies that grow in that region have become a symbol of the lives lost.
Ginette Callaway, Lovejoy Member Since March 2007 Artist Statement I am an independent, self supporting artist, working full time on my art. I absolutely love what I do. Creating art consumes me. I paint original art with oil paints, watercolors, also ink and pastel. Additionally I use the photos of my art or scans to create mixed media, where I use digital tools to layer texture or change the colors of these original paintings. Not a day goes by where I don't create something new.
If you want an original painted just for you, contact me. I take requests on my website.

I was born in Alsace France and from childhood on, I had Art and a Love for Nature and beauty in my blood. In my younger years I traveled and saw a bit of the world. After moving to the Unites States I became a full time artist with collectors from all over the world.
