Description What do you see? An old truck that should have been hauled away? I see a young farmer who proudly brought his new hard earned truck home for the first time to a young family waiting excitedly. Then the trips to the local service station and a youngster tagging along hoping to get candy or bubble gum. Years of hauling supplies for the farm; replacing a part under a shade tree when autos could be worked on with a few hand tools and you were off a running again. Years pass and once again, another coat of paint with a paint brush. Hurricane Hugo took out the old farm house. I imagine the family all moved on and the property is waiting for a buyer. Someone will probably put up a half a million dollar home and in the process call someone to haul away the last of the families memories. The one thing the family didn't have the heart to do.... get rid of Pop's old truck.

Thank you to all who collect my work and give me the opportunity to continue to paint and the worldwide recognition of my craft. I need to create and when I work on a painting and it is purchased, it's like giving a part of me to someone else. A connection with the rest of the world. A shared sense of beauty dedicated to the beauty and texture in nature which connects us all.
Please contact me if you have any questions or if you are interested in a custom piece. It is not complicated or expensive at all to have a custom piece done. You can simply provide color swatches of your decor and a brief description of size and subject/style and I will send you a quote and photographs of a small study if you are interested in making a purchase.
Herb has worked as a graphic artist and illustrator. He has worked for a national food store chain eventually heading up layout design for general merchandise ads in one of their districts. He started getting free lance work offers and started his own graphic design and illustration business working on packaging projects for Krispy Kreme to Saks Fifth Avenue as well as architectural renderings for prestigious home builders in the Charlotte, NC area.
After 10 years of Herb Dickinson Commercial Art, Herb was drawn to picture framing, painting and photography. Eventually that evolved into framing original art and prints of his own work. Herb enjoys all styles of art, however, modern, abstract and impressionism in acrylic provide an outlet for mixing texture, colors and nature together.
Paintings start with a sketch and color palette but in the process of creating, take a life of their own and give a delightful surprise at the finished results.
Herb's paintings are in private collections internationally and local galleries. Some paintings are commissioned to a print publisher. Herb is listed in the International Dictionary of Artist.
