Description Shades of pink and blue make an amazing background for Maine most famous landmark.Portland Head is an isolated spot along the Maine coast where it is rumored that Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote his famous poem 'The Lighthouse'. Built expensively with light rubblestone and lime, Portland Head was a 72 foot tower that first shone its light in January of 1791.
Eric Jenkins, Westbrook Maine Member Since December 2008 Artist Statement My photography work is one of the creative outlets thats only limitations are the ones I set for myself. I desided long ago that I would take on photography from a hands on, self taught perspective and see what I would focus on. Many years later I have found many different areas of focus that draw my attention. Art and photography of others open my eyes to the opportunities I may have with my camera. I have many different shots that I wait for year round. The use of nature and natural lighting does have limitations. Developing my mind's eye around nature's limits has made the largest impact on my photography work.
I love the unique shots and angles that make not only me but others take pause and find their own meaning in the image. Living in southern Maine allows for a variety of landscapes to work with. Finding scenes that are grown by the beauty of nature or aided by hands of mankind are the most rewarding of moments in life. Creating classic New England scenic views and brilliantly colored landscape shots that allow for others to enjoy the moments in time that I am fortunate enough to capture make for my happiest moments in life.
