Artist Statement Hello and thanks for viewing my artwork. I am an artist, illustrator and graphic designer with over 20 years of experience. Since my coloring book days, I knew I’d be a “commercial artist,” and I have been fortunate to see that dream come true.

I received a BFA degree in Visual Communications with an emphasis in Graphic Design from the University of Kansas and graduated with high honors. Before graduation I was recruited by the Lettering Department at Hallmark Cards. There I learned as much as or more than I did in college, from a group of very talented artists, designers and art directors. After three years in Lettering, I moved to Shoebox Greetings, and then made the move to establishing a freelance career. I have been successful as a freelancer for over 17 years, and enjoy a wide variety of clients and the work that I perform for them.

My design style is often bright and colorful, and has included a range from sophisticated to bold and graphic to whimsical illustration, and has been printed on almost everything printable from cards and wrap, to t-shirts and caps, to brochures and advertising. Later I expanded my work to include numerous book covers and interiors, and I have been designing, illustrating and hand-producing invitations, cards and announcements. Many of the designs at 123Print have come from my studio as well.

I am always looking for new ways to express my creativity. Most recently I have been creating paintings in acrylics and mixed media, and have exhibited my work at the Jewish Arts Festival in Kansas City, Medical Missions Foundation Holiday Hoopla and the opening for the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit at Union Station in the Middle-Eastern marketplace. I've done several of out of town fairs, having traveled to Omaha for their Jewish Arts Festival, the Jewish Art Festival in Springfield, Missouri, Nishmah and the week-long Israel at 60 celebration in St. Louis, Boulder Jewish Festival in Boulder, Colorado and the Chicago Jewish Festival.

Several of my painting images have been used on the covers of publications including Being Jewish Magazine, The Phoenix Jewish News and the Kansas City Jewish Chronicle. Paintings have also been reproduced on invitation shells for United Jewish Communities (UJC) both the Greater Miami and Kansas City Jewish Federations. The Jewish Children's Museum in Brooklyn, NY has used a variety of painting images for a childrens craft project. Congregation Beth Shalom has used painting image on the cover of their calendar this year. The U.S. State Department even contacted me during the Fall of '08 to get permission to use an image on their website America.gov.

Many of the paintings in my painting portfolio are available for purchase on the Paintings page, and I am also available for commissions when my schedule allows. Prints of my paintings and greeting cards are available at my Etsy store. My art is also available for licensing by organizations and individuals. Please contact me for more information.

I try to update my blog as often as possible with short entries about the work on my drawing table, computer and easel.

I live and work in a suburb of Kansas City with my always supportive husband, Boyd, my two amazing daughters, Hannah and Rachel, and my sweet companion Pearl, an adorable Maltese.
