Description Race to the sea, is a painting I created as a preliminary for a mural. The mural was painted on a 18x30 foot wall at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium in Florida. It took me a week to complete. I wanted the viewer to have a birds eye view of the hatchlings emerging from the nest and racing to the safety of the water.
Randall Brewer Member Since February 2009 Artist Statement Randall Brewer was born in South Carolina and raised on various Army bases across the United States and Europe. He and his family, wife Gina and son James, settled in Dunedin, Florida in 1997 after a fifteen year career in aviation.
Randall's art career began at the age of twelve when he was gifted with an art set which his father had purchased in Europe. With it, he created and sold his first painting, thus sparking a lifelong desire to paint those images, which touch his soul. Randall has said, "As an artist, I paint the things I am passionate for, such as the ocean and its inhabitants. My goal is to paint the perfect reflection on the water, light through the waves, and the feelings and emotions of our undersea friends. Even though I am constantly striving to reach that level of perfection, I realize that I am crafting an imperfect image of one of God's perfect creations." Randall also enjoys doing commissioned work and murals. Murals in particular, he believes, allow many more people to have access to art they may otherwise never have a chance to experience.
Painting mainly in oils, Randall's work focuses on Florida wildlife, seascapes, lighthouses, boats, and marine wildlife. For the most part self-taught, Randall has had training in the use of oils, acrylics, and watercolors. He was also fortunate enough to study under Ronald Keys in Tucson, Arizona where he focused on Southwest Style Oil Painting.
Randall was the featured artist for the 38th Annual Art Harvest of Dunedin. He was also commissioned by the Junior League of Dunedin to paint a turtle for the Tour of Turtles. Randall's turtle "A Turtle's World" was on display at the Dunedin Fine Art Center and sold for 3000.00 with all the proceeds going to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium and the Junior League of Dunedin.
Randall has just finished a mural commissioned by the Clearwater Marine Aquarium and will be working with the Aquarium on future projects. You can see his work at http://Randall.imagekind.com/ . You can e-mail Randall at email@example.com.
