Description The Red Velvet ant, Dasymutilla occidentalis, is also known as the Cow-killer ant due to its painful sting. Contrary to its name it is neither an ant, nor is it able to kill cows with its sting. It is, in reality, a flightless wasp. Its red coloration makes it easy to see while crawling along the ground here in the Southeast U.S.
Joshua And Kelly Clark, Eatonton, Georgia Member Since July 2008 Artist Statement Hi, we are Josh and Kelly Clark of Eatonton, Georgia. We are twin brothers attending Georgia College and State University as graduate students. As you can probably tell, we are lovers of nature. We decided that we would like to spread not only this love but also our knowledge of nature through artwork. We generally work with color pencil, but will also be selling rock art, once we have a web page set up. Any purchases you make will be greatly appreciated, as it will help us pay for college expenses.
