John McLaird, Duluth, Minnesota Member Since January 2008 Artist Statement Welcome to my little place here. My interest in photography stems from hiking. I have a dear son who has severe autism (non verbal etc.). His main interest/activity is hiking on the weekends. My obsession with photography has grown out of our adventures together. We have recently moved from Colorado to Northern Minnesota.
On the wall of the projection room of a company specializing in children's films are inscriptions of appreciation. One of these touched me in an extraordinary way. Along with the 'thank you' were the following words, painted, illuminated, by the child author:
Once upon a time
There was a little boy
And he went outside.
