Description The Red-tailed Hawk (Buteo jamaicensis) is a bird of prey, one of three species colloquially known in the United States as the 'chickenhawk,' though it rarely preys on chickens. It breeds throughout most of North America, from western Alaska and northern Canada to as far south as Panama and the West Indies. Raptor-05001
Tony Moran, Central Ontario, Canada Member Since May 2011 Artist Statement I have lived in Canada for the past 37 years but am dual Irish/British by birth. A semi-pro photographer, I have mainly covered travel themes from around the world, however I try to shoot a wide range of subjects in the course of a year.
Since my analogue film days I have been fortunate enough to photograph in several countries throughout Asia and the Caribbean, as well as in Ireland, Canada, and the US, In the last couple of years I have also shot in Turkey, Greece, Croatia, Spain, Mexico, Cuba, Brazil, Morocco, Cape Verde Islands, Egypt and Jordan.
In recent years I have made a point of shooting with very high resolution cameras, (typically an impressive 24.6 megapixels producing JPEGs of up to 17 megabytes!), enabling me to provide very detailed images that can produce a wide variety of prints up to very large formats .
