Description This piece was drawn from life, the model was very at ease, my own thoughts intruded and the piece took a life of its own. The chosen media was very traditional renaissance materials, Charcoal, and Conte, a more modern influence was introduced with the use of sumi ink.
Artcat Designs, Houston Member Since January 2009 Artist Statement Hello, I am artcat, the artist behind the work. Animals were a natural focus for me as I have grown up doing animal rescue work. I love strong vibrant colors, and creating movement in my art.
I hold an associates degree in fine art, and hope to one day hold a masters degree in the field.
As an artist, that need to create is what drives me. It's a way to share my deepest most thoughts and feelings, joy, laughter, sadness, frustration, anger... My favorite medium to work in is oil sticks and turpentine, it combines the control of drawing with that wonderful spontaneity of painting.
My blurb, like my life, is a work in progress (bonus points if you get the reference).
