Artist Statement Consuelo (Connie) Yznaga Davis is the artist behind all of these beautiful, peaceful; often stunning, and occasionally eccentric paintings. —And she is also my mom.

I’m Karen Ross, Consuel's daughter; and I manage this gallery. My mom has been painting for as long as I can remember—my first memory being giant flowers with big smiling faces painted on the walls of the bedroom I shared with my little sister.

Over the years, I have also watched her compose unique artistic creations out of everything from ordinary household items, to patently unique bricklaying and landscaping in our yards―to glass paintings on windows, and elaborate mosaics of carefully cut ceramic tiles covering small tables, sinks and even entire walls in her bathrooms.

In 2011, I started taking notice of her rapidly growing collection of oil on canvas paintings, all over the walls of her house―literally piling up, and crowding her out of the small art studio that spawned out of my sister’s old bedroom.

My mom was never interested in getting into the business of selling her art; so I started having it all professionally photographed in high resolution 'digital image capture' format, in order to have it reproduced in the form of high quality giclée prints and reproductions on canvas.

As you can see, this really is an extraordinarily diverse collection of artwork. It is unique from many other artists' work, in that, not only does it vary greatly in style and genres, but it was all done without any intent to ever sell it—or appeal to any specific style or taste.

My mom has always painted purely for her own enjoyment and personal fulfillment. —And now, despite her long time reticence, she is truly delighted that all those years of creative expression will finally see the light of day.

As she continues to paint, I’ll continue to have it photographed and listed here online. ―So please have a look around; and check back often, because you never know what she’ll come up with next.

My Mission: To share my mom’s artwork with the world; and in doing so, give my mom, and her unique talent, creativity, vision and personal expressions a broader existence and presence in the world.

More specifically, I hope to give something back to her—and her life, after all she has done for me in mine.
