Description Original Impressionist oil painting view of Venice the Famous Rialto Bridge.~~~~~When I lived in Germany in the 1970s I remember watching a movie one day.It was in German 'Wenn Die Gondeln Trauer Tragen' the English title is 'Don't Look Now'.It made me an instant fan of Donald Sutherland and of Venice.~~~~~It's a great movie based on a novel by: Daphne Du Maurier~~~~~My whole life even as a child I loved the Dramatic, somewhat dark and surreal and mysterious.I asked many questions, gave few answers, and was always just a bit sad. Shortly an odd mysterious child.~~~~~This movie created my lasting impression about Venice.I was thinking about 'Don't look now' when I painted this, I wanted to create that feeling I feel when thinking of Venice.~~~~~The canals of Venice which resemble the corridors of the mind, unforeseen turns and shadows. Cool darkness and hollow footsteps, running towards the light, long steps stretching as if in a time warp or bad dream. Somewhere around the corner of this maze plays a band and people are joyousness but still hiding their faces behind masks.~~~~~I do commission work. Please contact me. email@example.com
Ginette Callaway, Lovejoy Member Since March 2007 Artist Statement I am an independent, self supporting artist, working full time on my art. I absolutely love what I do. Creating art consumes me. I paint original art with oil paints, watercolors, also ink and pastel. Additionally I use the photos of my art or scans to create mixed media, where I use digital tools to layer texture or change the colors of these original paintings. Not a day goes by where I don't create something new.
If you want an original painted just for you, contact me. I take requests on my website.
