Artist Statement Born in Bandung Indonesia, Wijati is a BFA graduate of Painting and Printmaking Department, Virginia Commonwealth University. Her first instruction in the arts was in traditional Javanese and Balinese arts.She exhibited in Indonesia, Malaysia, and the United States. in 2000 she relocated to United States and returned to school while continuing to search for a way to satisfy her inner needs. Her latest visual work paradoxically draws on the invisible world of sounds and nature. Wijati currently lives and work in Northern Virginia with her husband and a daughter.
