DescriptionThis drawing is now framed and attached permanently to a lazy susan so that it can be viewed from all angles. It was purchased during one of my shows in July. Fortunately, it is still local to my home so if I ever miss it, the kind owners will allow me to visit.
Jesse Riesmeyer, Freedom Member Since January 2008 Artist Statement Welcome! You are about to enter the intriguing and magical realm of Organic Graphite, collected works by Pittsburgh artist Jesse Riesmeyer. You are invited to explore and discover her world, letting your imagination run wild as you peruse this gallery of artwork.
Organic Graphite is the delicate interplay between positive and negative space, created by using pencil and paper, black and white, texture and light. It is the layering of grey tones gently shaded into one another which allows depth and dimension to guide the viewer's imagination on a fantastic journey of exploration and discovery.
Though influenced by her surroundings, Jesse doesn't usually have a concept in mind when she begins to draw. She allows the shapes to gradually take form, letting them mature into a luring and mesmeric world of their own with no rules or serious guidelines.
Jesse receives the greatest joy, not from a finished drawing, but by what other people let her see within each piece. Everyone has their own unique perspective, each different from the last and this grants Jesse a fresh take on each piece that she completes.
