Description K-28 476 slides down the line towards Chama at a fictitious place that never existed on a morning that could have been.I've watched so many narrow gauge tea kettles waddle along the tracks early in the morning that I just had to paint this. Can't you feel that high desert morning?
J. Griff Griffin, Highlands Ranch, CO Member Since March 2009 Artist Statement Jeff "Griff" Griffin has been making and selling art in and about Colorado since 1990.
Having studied with the famous Southwestern Artist Michael Atkinson he has adopted that style to meet the type of subjects that Griff likes. Though Griff's style emanates of his study with Atkinson, he has taken care to work in a way that enhances the main subjects of his work. For example, a bison, is put front and center where it can be enjoyed. The intense, bold, colors are then injected around the main more natural subject while the backgrounds take on a surreal life of their own.
His slogan is: Paintings in colors you have never seen from places you have never been. In other words, Griff, paints some common subjects but injects them into locales that exist only in his mind. He likes to say, this is the way I wish it COULD have looked when I was there.
Jeff "Griff" Griffin finishes one to several paintings every month so be sure to visit often.
