Description Statue is called The Traveling Man. He's 38 feet tall, weighs 35,000 pounds, is made entirely of stainless steel and is the new ambassador for Deep Ellum. What makes the Traveling Man an apt representative for Dallas' Deep Ellum district? Well, his guitar-shaped head is a nod to the community's rich musical presence, his long limbs tout the area's engaging nature and the building material represents the district's industrial history.Three separate sculptures of the Traveling Man will sit within blocks of DART's new Deep Ellum light rail station. The artwork is the brainchild of Brandon Oldenburg and his team at Reel FX Creative Studio, a visual effects company based in Deep Ellum. DART awarded a $1.36 million contract to Oldenburg to bring the Traveling Man to life. He beat out four other finalists. Oldenburg brought Dallas-based designer and sculptor Brad Oldham into the project to take the Traveling Man from concept to reality.
I am also on FAA and http://www.zazzle.com/DiDi_Higginbotham Society6 and BlueCanvas My website: http://1-didi-higginbotham.artistwebsites.com/ *********** I have been painting most of my life. My love for animals has been a natural gravitation to painting them almost exclusively. Many of my paintings have been commissioned, and most have special stories. My subjects are from various places. I am an active supporter of animal reserves, sanctuaries and rescue groups. Many of my animals are from these places, I visit zoos and on occasion can be found wandering around in the wild. Some of my images only reside in my fertile mind and it does get crowded in there sometimes. (o: Most of my paintings are acrylics. I also enjoy photography and sharing what I see.
