Rust to Dust

Inside the Abandoned and soon to be renovated Don Valley Brickworks in Toronto, Canada. Rays of light pierce through holes in the rusted roof, searching for life. A relic from the past sits quietly. Built in the late 1800's, this once thriving factory now waits for new life.

Stairs to the Past

From the ill fated Loblaws Building at the foot of Bathurst and Front Street in Toronto. A shot of the front entrance stairs from 2005 with the light shinning through the front doors.

Located on the 3rd floor looking east of the historic 1920's Loblaws Headquearters.

Blackened

A burnt chair sits near the back of an abandoned warehouse. I'm surprised the whole chair didn't burn.

Urban Stains

A desolate and highly vandalized section of the Industrial Waterfront in San Francisco. Some good abandoned sites around these parts. Unfortunately these areas are pretty secure and I never got the chance to explore them further while living in SF.

Watch your Head

Freaky view before stepping foot into the dark basement. The window has a bullet hole in it. The sign on the floor says "Watch your Head", was for a recent movie that was shot here. ( 1930s Loblaws HQ )

No Parking

From a trip down to one of the old piers in San Francisco. This area is full of history. Originally used by Bethlehem Steel and later US Iron Works, now only a few buildings are being occupied. The state of decay here is incredible.

Could be 11 could be 12. Found at another old mill in North Carolina. In a small pump house by a river.

Took a drive out to Mare Island one weekend to take a closer look at the abandoned military base located there. This massive stretch of land has century old buildings, some huge, all built and used during the World Wars. It was the US's principal seat of Pacific Coast defense.

Portal

A view looking north towards the Marin Headlands from one of Fort Barry's many abandoned Batteries. This is a couple miles west of the Golden Gate bridge, about half a mile from the Pacific Ocean.

Battlefront

A bunker just south of the Golden Gate Bridge. Possibly a Look out point. Not much room at the top, just enough for a sniper or watchman.

Machine Shop

From my visit to Mare Island. I walked the perimeter of this enormous building for over an hour. Looking for ways to get in, climbing stairs, testing doors. In the end I had to settle for a opening in a window and a missing doorknob. This is a view looking north from the south entrance of the Mare Island Naval Shipyard Machine Shop. Dating back to World War 2.

Mill Ruins

I took a drive out towards Napa and Vallejo in search of abandoned spaces. I was passing through a rather uninteresting little town in an area called American Canyon. Nothing special here just a small town with strip malls. I spotted something behind a new housing development on the other side of some train tracks. This place was huge, just a ruin of large concrete and cement walls, shells of what once was. After about 20 minutes checking possible access points I finally found a way into the area by climbing some hills directly behind it. Not much left at the site, just a massive sprawl of walls and columns. There was however one building that still had a roof. This is a shot from inside looking towards the abandoned silos on the land.

In Hiding

A shot of something I spotted when I took a wrong turn before reaching the Bethlehem Steel site. This is an old Abandoned cruise ship called the Aquarama. Hiding behind this old grain elevator for over a decade now.

Scanning Rays

A beam of light breaks up into several when hitting a walking platform above me. Its as if these rays are searching the abandoned factory for signs of life.

Rodney Hunt

A rusty find along Ocean Beach near Fort Funston. Part of an old drainage system of some sort. Storm drain or whatever. This was the label on a large hatch on the side of a concrete basin.

Break Free

Ruins of Bynum Mill in North Carolina. A large pipe looks as if it broke free from its original design to go through the ceiling. North Carolina has allot to see. You can't travel more than 100 meters without running into some sort of abandonment. Lots of old mills.
