Kitty Hawk Pier East

Fishing pier at sunrise. This pier was destroyed in 2005 by a hurricane. It was a landmark on the Outer Banks.All that remains today is about the first 1/3 of the pier.

Kitty Hawk Pier West

This fishing pier in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina was mostly wiped out by a hurricane in 2005.This image was taken as the sun came up several days prior to the hurricane. It was a serious loss to the Outer Banks, along with damage to beach houses and errosion of the beach itself.All that remains today is about 1/3 of the pier, which was restored by Hilton Hotels.

Not quite the Outer Banks, but just across the Wright Bridge from Kitty Hawk in late autumn...Driving along in Curituck County I caught a glimpse of something beautiful out of the corner of my eye and shouted "stop the car!" My husband is used to this... ;-) God's paint brush at work.Wouldn't this make an outstanding jigsaw puzzle?
