Worthing Pier, the southcoast of West Sussex UK

Taken on a cold November's evening at sunset. The Pier was commissioned by the Worthing Pier Company and designed by Sir Robert Rawlinson. It opened in 1862 and improvements were made in 1888 with the construction of a 650-seater pavilion. It has been damaged by storms and fire over the years but the Worthing Corporation, who bought it in 1920, are considering several improvements.

The mine opened in 1872.
