This is my K9.5 Trip and a half series. It is inspired by my rescue dog Tripper. Tripper has bought many things into our life, the expected things like love, devotion and class A hugs and kisses; but more than that she has brought this amazing color, brillIance, and a very unexpected COMEDY!
And I know that she is not alone, though she has not been cloned(at least not that I know of) you probably have one of your own. If so you will understand that the standard for K9 is not high enough, and K10 would be possible if it were not for the precious little piles left in the front yard. No, K9.5 is a fitting standard. Either way it is a Trip and a half. Can you relate? then COME! (oops, I mean WELCOME!)

But then again they had it coming, first the mouse ventured out for that last forbidden morsel, and of course Tabby just couldn't let the opportunity pass...well then the rest is history as they say. What is not shown, as it was too graphic for the housekeepers it what lies on the flip side of this picture...the mess. Some things are better left unseen!

Good I'll get the ball, you get the treats!

I caught site of my dog Tripper spotting me as I pulled in the driveway. I made a personal little snapshot in my mind at the time and later drew this piece. Dog owners are so blessed, to be loved in such a way. Who else throws a party every time you walk through the door? Such is the nature of dogs.

The original is 4x6and done in color pencil and metallic markers. Done in contemporary cubism style, in vibrant, primary colors the colored pencils are applied layer upon layer to achieve full saturation, giving the final piece a look that would rival an oil painting.

Probably because I fall victim to it 99% of the time. Every dog owner knows the look. When they want a treat, a ride, some 1 on 1 play time. Those among us who can resist, are a far better women than me.

This is the latest in my k9.5 series, done with color pencils, and paint markers on the MDF board. Color is laid down layer upon layer, until a full saturation of color is achieved.
