Paper House Facade

There's a house in the Pigeon's Cove area of Rockport, MA. called the "Paper House". It was originally purchased as a summer home by Elis Stenman in 1922. The paper was intended to be used as insulation but Mr. Stenman just kept going. Many layers are held together with glue and covered with varnish which makes them waterproof! In addition to the insulation the furniture is also made of paper! The house is still standing and is open during the summers for tours. This is a photo of the paper on the front of the house, you can still read some of the print despite the many coats of varnish.

Spring In Paradise

Another scene from a photo taken in New Hampshire during the spring. We always search out the untrod roads and sometimes we luck out! This was just a spectacular sight and the day was a perfect one.

Fan Palms

Fan palms in Thailand. The first time I saw these I was taken aback by their tremendous size and beauty. This is a digital watercolor with some yellow highlights as I liked the color combination ;) I hope you enjoy!

Sun Dappled Autumn

Cherry Blossoms in Spring

Beautiful cherry blossoms are always a much looked for event in spring! Delicate pink and white blossoms on the trees just make you smile when you see them. In Washington, D.C. there is a Cherry Blossom Festival held annually :)

The Street Entertainer

Street entertainers are delightful and plentiful in bigger cities like Quebec. You can find jugglers, fire-eaters, singers, mimes.... I always enjoy watching them and they normally gather quite a crowd around them!

Spring Run Off

Spring in Vermont means roadside waterfalls around almost every corner when the snow melts off the mountains. You always know where they are by the line of cars on the side of the road when tourists stop with their cameras ;)

American Black Duck

The American Black-Ducks are closely related to Mallards and share the same habitats. The oldest one on record was 26.5 years old! This particular duck was having it’s lunch at a spot on the Northern Shores of Massachusetts.

New Hampshire Morning

I’m fortunate to live in beautiful New England, the place millions of people flock to every fall to see the foliage. This shot was taken in New Hampshire, Franconia, to be exact right outside our hotel room which is nestled against a small river. In the mornings when the day begins to heat up the mist rises up off the waters producing a visual feast.

Romancing The Past

I love old buildings so imagine my surprise when hiking through an urban park and coming across this shell of what must have been an amazing piece of architecture! This gem of nostalgia is located within a park in central Massachusetts.

The Old Presbytery

Located in Deschambault-Grondines, Quebec, this old presbytery (rectory) was built in 1802 and is part of the historic route that goes throughout Quebec.

From Times Long Ago

This is a second image from an abandoned structure we came across while hiking in an urban park. Obviously at one point this was a magnificent building and while sad to see most of it gone I’m glad at least some of the structure remains because it strikes the imagination of how grand this once was. Located in central Massachusetts.

Ragusa Rose

The ragusa, or beach, roses are found in great abundance on Cape Cod. The vibrant pink flowers set against the sandy white background blends perfectly and adds to the overall charm of the Cape and all things “beach”.

Misty Morning

Summer mornings sometimes have a surreal kind of look, especially around bodies of water where the mist is just beginning to rise. I’ve always loved the look and am even willing to get up early (on occasion!) to see it.

Spring Meadow

Some scenes take your breath away...for me, this was one of those. Driving down a country road I came across this picture of nature re-born with all the spring greens and the wooden fence, a part of the tree trunks of old, a perfect combination of effect!
