Neon Explosion

Once a Ferris Wheel now an explosive burst of bold neon color. Digitally transformed into a vibrantly colored kaleidoscope. Kaleidoscopes as a child were fascinating magical toys. Crowd of Pentagons

A digital abstract composed of multiple layers of colorful pentagons. Pentagons of all sizes crowded together in a variety of turquoise and magenta shades. As a child my favorite toy was the largest box of crayons, the one with the sharpener in the back. I relished that new crayon smell, I loved them! So many new colors to play with, all those endless artistic possibilities, a truly joyful memory. Now a days I use more professional tools but that childlike wonder has never faded. This series of work is a celebration of that lifelong love of color and possibility.

Ribbons and Bows

Richly colored ribbons and bows flow together gracefully. A sophisticated array of lovely colors can be found throughout this abstract image. I was inspired by shiny metallic paper and large elaborate bows that adorn beautifully wrapped holiday gifts. Each time I revisit this piece I'm transported back to the end of the year and all it's celebrations.

Frozen in Time 2

Even on the coldest days of winter beauty can be found in nature. Captured in the dead of winter, these barren snow covered trees have been frozen in time. A thick coating of ice and snow has replaced the lush foliage that once adorned them. The smooth icy coating has given them on an almost otherworldly appearance. This version features soft pastel coloring which has a calming effect on the scene. Original photograph enhanced with digital effects and textures. Angelfish Nebula

The graceful Angelfish and an interstellar cloud of dust combined together to form the Angelfish Nebula. A completely imaginary astronomical object...for now. Abstract artwork created with numerous warm colors and given a rough plaster wall texture.

Phoenix Rising

I think it fitting that this image started out as a photo of a roaring fire. The phoenix is a mythological bird that is continuously regenerated or reborn. It rises from the ashes of it's former self to begin life anew. Because of this the phoenix has been used to symbolize the sun, renewal itself, religious figures and was adopted as a symbol of the Christian faith early on. It has also been used in modern pop culture many times over. It represents what most humans think they want, immortality, which makes the phoenix an enduring and beloved mythological creature.

Motherboard 2

These colorful squares of varied size and color reminded me of a computer motherboard. The motherboard is the heart of the computer without which it could not function. Without a computer I wouldn't be able to do what I love, creating and sharing artwork with the world, which would make life tedious and dull. I will always find a way to create, it's just like breathing for me, but computers make this journey so much more amazing. So I highly respect this wonderful technology that has helped open up this new world of possibilities for me.

Fallen Star

A once brightly glowing star from the heavens above has fallen to earth and had it's light extinguished. Though it's brilliant light has faded the star desperately clings to life, only emitting a fraction of it's shine. Spilled Milky Way

Spilled milk or an abstract vision of our galaxy? Let your imagination decide, or come up with your own interpretation. A dynamic red white and turquoise abstract created with original photographs. Red and turquoise is a classic color combination that has timeless appeal. It can be used in both modern and retro decors with ease as an appealing accent. Warped Chrome Compass

Digital chrome mosaic with a touch of blue and green. Facts about real chrome below! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrome_plating Chrome plating, often referred to simply as chrome, is a technique of electroplating a thin layer of chromium onto a metal or plastic object. The chromed layer can be decorative, provide corrosion resistance, ease cleaning procedures, or increase surface hardness, and sometimes for aesthetic purposes a less expensive imitator of chrome will be used. Process A component to be chrome plated will generally go through these different stages: degreasing to remove heavy soiling; manual cleaning to remove all residual traces of dirt and surface impurities; various pretreatments depending on the substrate; placement into the chrome plating vat, where it is allowed to warm to solution temperature; and application of plating current, under which the component is left for the required time to attain thickness. There are many variations to this process depending on the type of substrate being plated upon. Different etching solutions are used for different substrates. Hydrochloric, hydrofluoric, and sulfuric acids can be used. Ferric chloride is also popular for the etching of Nimonic alloys. Sometimes the component will enter the chrome plating vat electrically live. Sometimes the component will have a conforming anode either made from lead/tin or platinized titanium. Stained Glass Fruit Salad

Fruit colored squares give the impression of a beautiful stained glass window. Stained glass is a timeless art form used for over a thousand years in churches and other important buildings to depict religious figures and scenes. Although beautiful to behold they were also used to control light in a building rather than to let light in. Because of their lasting craftsmanship many of these original works have survived the test of time. Stained glass is also used to create lampshades and other 3-dimensional sculptures. Today stained glass works are not limited by religious themes but rather can be anything the artisan desires. From the traditional to the absurd and everything in between.

Fluorescent Wormhole

This was created by manipulating one of my magazine collages. The color combination reminded me of delicious summer fruits like melons, raspberries and oranges. However, the resulting funnel-shaped tunnel has taken on the appearance of what I imagine a wormhole might be like. Traveling through space in a quick and efficient manner while having a dazzling display of cheerful bright color doesn't sound too bad. A fluorescent fruit salad colored shortcut through space time...it could happen.

Winter's Grasp

In the icy grasp of winter time stands still. Howling winds lash out and sting your tender flesh. Snow and ice blanket the land smothering all organisms still desperately clinging to life. The earth is put in a state of hibernation, biding its time until the dawning of the coming spring. Original photograph with digital color and texture. One half of of my piece "Fire and Ice".

Disco Dancing in a Black Hole

The black hole, a simultaneously terrifying and fascinating celestial object. Ever wonder what goes on inside of one? Well wonder no more! Turns out (in my world anyway) that the interior houses one of the largest most colorful disco dance floors know to humans and aliens alike. While attempting to dance inside of a black hole will certainly be the LAST thing you ever do, you can be sure to have the wildest time of your now severely shortened life! Get in a few good moves before you're sucked into nothingness!

Glass Block Shore

Lake Erie shore as seen through a glass mosaic lens. Lake Erie is only as blue as the sky above it and on this particular day it was a gorgeous deep blue. Each individual tile reflects the colors of the scene. Clearly highlighted now are all of the various shades of blue in the sky and lake-shore below it, the white-capped waves and the neutral colors of the sandy beach.

Limelight

Colors shift from lime green to chartreuse over to lemon yellow in a chevron shaped mosaic tile abstract. Dark green and white accent the piece. Chartreuse is a bold extroverted color. You can not be afraid to be noticed when wearing this vibrant hue. Because of this attention getting quality many fire trucks and other emergency vehicles use it instead of more traditional red. Lime green of course is mostly associated with limes and mixed drinks, and the ever unpopular green jello. Beautiful cheerful colors sure to grab your attention.

Red Alert

Ruby red glass blocks form a powerful dynamic abstract. Red is one of the most powerful colors. Red has multiple personalities. It can incite anger, passion, love, war, aggression and courage. It is often used in celebrations as a symbol of joy and well being. Think of the red carpet laid out to welcome guests. In China it is considered the color of prosperity and good fortune and is often worn by brides on their wedding day. It is the color of warning and danger and is the international color of stop signs and stop lights. Red is so commonly used because not only does it attract the most attention, it demands it.

Fire and Ice

The eternal struggle between the destructive forces of ice and fire. The polar opposite forces of nature are depicted here in an infinite battle for supremacy. Both are equally powerful in their own right. Fire burns and consumes the land turning it to ash and smoke. Ice and snow smother and freeze all life that is unfortunate enough to get in its way. As with all opposing forces, one could not exist without the other, so this struggle will go on indefinitely.

Geometric Mystery

Origami created by my youngest child finds itself transported into a mysterious alien world. A world where everything is apparently rainbow colored, but I love color so who's complaining? And who doesn't love rainbows? I for one welcome our rainbow loving overlords! Original photograph with digital textures and painting.

White Water Lotus in Violet

The white water lotus on the river bed at Old Woman Creek in Huron, Ohio, original photograph digitally altered and transformed. Also available in a more natural green. The Water Lotus or Nelumbo nucifera is known by many names: Indian lotus, sacred lotus, bean of India and simply, lotus. These plants are often confused with the water lily, an entirely different plant. The water lotus has a distinctive center which will become the familiar circular seed pod lotuses are famous for. This aquatic perennial will remain viable for many years in the most favorable circumstances. The oldest recorded lotus germination was from 1300 year old seeds recovered from a dry lakebed in China. If you have the opportunity to see a water lotus in its natural setting I highly recommend you do so. A riverbed full of these is a magnificent sight.

Neon Ghost Chilies

An assortment of dangerously hot ghost chilies in a colorful neon style. It reminds me of my old Lite Brite toy that I had as a child. It came with patterns to follow but that wasn't as much fun as creating your own pictures. Now I kind of do the same thing as an adult, just with way more advanced toys, funny how things work out.

Crystal Power Core

A crystallized hexagonal pyramid that could be: -Something Indiana Jones might go through great lengths to obtain. -Something out of the Dr. Who television series. -Something Scotty had to fix on the USS-Enterprise. -Something Harry Potter had to keep Voldemort from stealing to obtain immortality. -Most likely answer: An ordinary paper weight, photographed by someone with a wild imagination who watched too much TV as a child.

Life in The Flames

This image started out as roaring campfire. I wanted to transform it into an abstract work but still retain the intensity and energy of the fire. As I worked with the colors I was delighted to see a figure begin to appear. The essence of the fire remained but now their was life in the flames.

Branching Out

Violet Illumination

A single tree branch with emerging fall berries in a graphic surrealistic color style. I enjoy playing around with unusual color schemes and textures, seeing how far I can push an image before it falls over the cliff. Sometimes I have to send out a search party and rescue it from the brink of craziness, but no image in my care has ever been irreparably harmed. (I keep all the raw files just in case). It's a wild and fun adventure every time.

Hypnotic Nature

A tree in silhouette reaches towards a spiraling vortex of color. Bold red mixed with touches of pink and white swirl together in a hypnotic spiral drawing you in and mesmerizing your senses. If you are susceptible to hypnosis I take no responsibility for any wild and crazy thing you might do upon being hypnotized by this image. Tread lightly friends.

Man On Fire

Fire is alive, and for it to grow it must feed. What it feasts on is no matter to the flames. Anything unfortunate enough to be in its path will be consumed and turned to ash and smoke. Its power has been harnessed to our great benefit. However, always remember that fire will never truly be tamed, and remains a wildly destructive force. Ferris Wheel

A colorful tribute to a classic staple of amusement parks everywhere. The Giant Ferris Wheel at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio isn't a fast moving thrill ride with loops and stomach dropping hills. This ride can be thrilling however, while people enter and exit the ride you might be stuck at the top. 136 feet up! To me that's scary enough! Although, I do admire the beauty of the machine. It's a wonder to behold at night, an artists dream, gentle movement, color, bright lights. Every night a fantastic light show is displayed right on the wheel.

Sea Creatures

Two little fish swim together in an underwater garden. As with most abstract art there is always room for more than one interpretation, I may see underwater creatures, you may see something else entirely. Let your imaginations run wild.

Winter's Dawn

The golden light of dawn illuminates a peaceful winter scene. Living next to the lake is a wonderful experience. Watching it change from season to season, seabirds, recreation, the unique smell caught in the breeze on warm days and for me the visual feast it provides. Blue Asiatic Lily

Asiatic Lilies come in nearly every color BUT blue, so I have created my own. Asiatic lilies are the hardiest of the lilies. They can be grown successfully in zones 3 through 10, are easy for beginners, multiply fast and are first to flower each season. They come in a wide variety of colors such as: white,yellow,orange,pink as well as numerous color combinations. But sadly, no blue. Well, what nature does not provide technology can! Two Birds

Two tiny birds enjoying the beautiful blue sky from their perch in the trees. These little bird were originally sitting behind a fence so I gave them their freedom. Ultraviolet Daylilies

A collection of lovely daylilies in a surreal pastel palette. Yellow butterflies flutter around the flowers adding a touch of whimsy. I've pushed the colors in a dramatic direction but have strived to maintain the softness of the floral scene. Original photograph-digital filters and textures added.

Magenta Chain-link

My chain link fence never looked so pretty. Morning glories have pretty much taken over my yard, my tv antenna my porch railing and of course the chain link fence. They create a stunning spectacle to behold in the early morning. Original photograph with color alteration.

A lonely little bird facing the wall perhaps longing for freedom. Or maybe he was just enjoying a peaceful moment to himself before facing the steady stream of visitors to his bird sanctuary. Original photo with texture.

Blue Canna Lily

The beautiful Canna Lily in a deep dark blue with a neutral background. The Canna lily is a large elegant flower but it is also a surprisingly versatile plant. The seeds are used as beads in jewelry. Fiber obtained from the leaves of the plant is used for making paper. All parts of the stem, foliage and rhizome are consumed by either livestock or humans. A purple dye is made from the seeds. Smoke from burning the leaves is used as an insecticide. In remote parts of India, the Canna is fermented to produce alcohol. In Vietnam canna starch is used to make noodles. The Canna is also a traditional Father's Day gift in Thailand. So many uses for such a lovely plant.

Out of the Blue

Mysterious blue flames. A mesmerizing mixture of blues and deep dark black will draw you in and capture your imagination. The azure flames have created sweeping wispy streaks of color and an inviting gentle glow. The polar opposite of a roaring fire angrily burning and consuming all in it's path.

Tangerine Asiatic Lily

A vibrant tangerine orange Asiatic Lily from my garden. Asiatic lilies are a perennial favorite of mine. They are available in a wide range of colors such as: pink, yellow, purple, white and orange as well as some bi-color varieties. They require well drained soil and at least six hours of sun a day. In the hot summer months they require regular watering. An enchanting addition to your garden.

Unnatural Pepper Variety
