Linford Farm in Winter

The snowy ground, excellent foreground weeds, and cool unique silo made for a super painting. This farmer named the property after his first name (Linford) and keeps his other farm in the family name. All 70+ acres (between Philadelphia and Allentown) are permanently preserved and beautiful. Ice House Barndt Farm

After painting a different piece of a local farmer's property, he invited me to paint anything else on his 75 preserved acres. I jumped at the opportunity and went straight for the ice house. He even remembered using it 70 years ago! Original art: 6" x 4" in ink & oil pastel on hardboard panel

Barndt Hill Farm in Winter

When it snows colors like blue and purple pop out of the landscape without warning and white snow takes on a whole different meaning. The high contrast of a bright yellow farm building and the cool tones of snowy shadows made for an instant excitement. Original artwork is 14" x 11" oil on hardboard panel

Sunset Parking Lot

Oil on canvas 30" x 24" with gallery wrapped edges. I was painting a mural in a local pizza shop. At the end of the day, I went outside to get in my car, I looked up and reached for my camera right away and then I painted this. I'm really fond of the light posts.

Sunset Power Lines

Oil on canvas, 9" x 12". I was driving home one night and it was one of those perfect sunsets where everything I saw looked like the perfect subject for a painting. I got home, grabbed the camera, and headed out to take my shots. By the time I got back to this spot, I got off one shot and things were too dark to get any more reference pics. There's something about the way the poles and wires cut across the rural landscape.

Sunset over Hendricks Dairy

Oil on canvas 11" x 18" with gallery wrapped edges. About 2 years ago a dairy farm moved in down our road. I've been caught up in the sights and sounds ever since. We love the sunsets here and this one was great over Hendrick's Dairy.

Orange Sunset

Oil on canvas, 8" x 10" A friend of mine has a great open property on several acres. She told me about the fantastic sunsets she sees there. One day she gave me some pictures and this is one of the pieces I painted from them.

Field at Night

Oil on canvas, 12" x 24" When we moved here from a much more urban setting, all I could do was marvel at the quiet and complete darkness at night. Then I started to appreciate the true beauty of our surroundings. This is across the street from our house. I'm so glad I painted it when I did because now there is a house that would be in this painting.

Sunset Power Lines 2

Far Away Farm

Ink and colored pencil on Mi-Teintes pastel paper, 5" x 7" Wherever you go in PA there's another farm off in the distance and they always look so great!

Red Tree Wheat Field

Oil on canvas 20" x 16" I couldn't pass up this beautiful red tree across a light wheat field. The weeds and trees framed it so well.

Moonlight Bramble

"Moonlight Bramble" 16" x 12" Watercolor and ink on watercolor paper. There's something about catching the moon at just the right time.

Fall Street Telford

Oil on canvas, 8" x 10" this is the street we live on. I paint it over and over again: different seasons, angles, with the dog, sunset, sunrise, etc.

Hilltown Shed

Oil on canvas, 18" x 14" A family member has a farm near here and when she bought that property there was nearly a war over this little shed being 20" over the property line. The funny thing to me is that no matter how much the neighbors hate each other, everyone seems to enjoy looking at the shed and the blooms that surround it.

Traffic Light

Acrylics on canvas board, 11" x 7 7/8" This is one of my earliest pieces of silhouetted evening works. I was in a friend's car with my new digital camera. I took several night shots but this one stuck with me for some reason.

Farm Property Doylestown

The original is about 6" x 12" on a tinted gesso panel (7 1/2" x 13 1/2"). I drive by this property about once a month and I take lots of reference pics but have never painted it until this piece. It's mixed media: ink and oil pastel.

Shadowy Street Franconia Township

The actual image is about 12" x 6" on 13 1/2" x 7 1/2" tinted gesso panel. The original is a mixed media: ink and oil pastel. I was driving down this gravel road with nothing on it and had to stop for this view. I just think there's something about a shadowy road.

Lambertville Canal Path

Ink and oil pastel on plywood panel, 14" x 11" I was in a neat little river town called Lambertville NJ. When you leave the main streets, people, shops, and galleries behind and head down the back alleys, you'll find the old canal and crushed stone walkways waiting. The path goes over the horizon through a small bridge with red railings.

Cornscape

Oil on canvas with gallery wrapped edges, 16" x 48" his painting is of a local farm in winter. the corn had been cut a little while before and the snow was laying in the rows. I also liked seeing the massive power lines cutting through the field and in front of the house.

Mood's Covered Bridge

Oil pastel and pencil on panel 8" x 10". Mood's covered bridge is one of 11 covered bridges remaining in historic Bucks County, PA. A few years ago some kids burned it down and people were at a loss. The bridge was rebuilt and then dedicated by congressman Patrick Murphy. I did this piece as part of a festival at the rededication.

Paris Arch

Oil on canvas with gallery wrapped edges, 18" x 36" In 1998 my wife (then girlfriend) was living in Germany and was in school New York. I traveled to see her there and we visited many places. I took the reference photo for this piece then and was inspired to paint it after looking through the photos with some friends.

Sheep and Stone Wall at Broken Barn

Ink and oil pastel on panel, 14" x 11" It seems that I can't stop painting the views, animals, and architecture at the Broken Barn Farm. This is a new work of Jaime the sheep doing her thing with some of the beautiful lichen covered stones that make up the barn wall. The colors are amazing to me.

Telford Shed

oil on canvas,12" x 12" with gallery wrapped edges. This little shed seems to make its way into a few different pieces and from different angles. I was taken by the sudden change in color from one field to another and the pop of red.

Lambertville Rooftops

Ink and oil pastel on hardboard panel, 14" x 11" I drove all over this scenic and historic riverside town in New Jersey. After a while I rambled up a very steep wooded road and found this great gap in the trees with a great view of the town from above.

Sheep in Field

Oil on canvas, 16" x 20" When the preserved land across the street from us sold and a dairy farm (Hendrix) moved in, I had no idea I'd be able to see sheep from my kitchen window.

Hoover Farm

Ink and oil pastel on hardboard panel, 11" x 14" This farm property is on the way for me to get to so many places. I've wanted to paint it for some time now and finally found a perfect day for it.

Vernfield Structure

Oil on canvas 20" x 16". The interesting thing to me about this building is that it's only about 12 feet tall. I'm not sure of its purpose but it definitely has appeal.

Sheard's Mill Covered Bridge

Oil pastel and pencil on panel 8" x 10". Sheard's Mill covered bridge is one of 11 covered bridges remaining in historic Bucks County, PA. I originally set out to create a series of all 11 but only completed 4 to date. I spent more time taking pictures of the dog in front of things looking funny.

Yellow Trees Mountain

Oil on canvas with gallery wrapped edges, 10" x 20" A friend took this picture while on vacation in Park City Utah of the Wasatch mountains. The rich colors of the trees just before they completely turned color for the Fall.

Grazing Cows at Hendricks Dairy

Ink and oil pastel on panel, 8" x 16" The cows at the dairy farm down the street just stroll around and take their time. The dog and I both love to watch them.

Sheep and Barn

Oil on canvas board, 8" x 10" I found myself back at The Broken Barn again. Sheep were romping around eating all of the fresh grass just asking to be painted.

Abandoned House on Cathill Road

Ink and oil pastel on hardboard panel, 16" x 20" While driving on a back road near my home I spotted an old bombed out home that must have been something special 60 years ago. The scene was sad and beautiful.
