Fire Escape

Old buildings hold a certain fascination for many people - ourselves included. This includes old buildings in cities. These buildings were shops and retail outlets with apartments and lofts on the upper floors. Its shining brightness and newness have worn away over the years and the buildings is now abandoned and derelict but there is still a certain history to it.

River Street

If you've ever been along Georgia's East Coast you probably visited Savannah and its River Street. This tourist area is set along the Savannah River and contains many different local shops for goods, gifts and fine food and candies. This historical city is said to be one of the most haunted. We found it to be one of the tastiest.

Window Shroud

It's amazing how nature grows plants to adapt to their surroundings. These vines have grown up this brick wall and hang over an old busted out window giving it the look of natural curtains.

Gutter Pic

We've gotten into the habit of taking photographs of objects and items that most people hardly take notice. This drain is one such picture. The surrounding bricks have reduced to black and white to help the grate itself to stand out.

Country Train

Train watching is something of an American hobby and past time. This locomotive was chugging its way down the tracks when we caught this one.

Caution

There's something about urban photography that catches our eye. Naturally with this affinity we've begun taking our own. It's these little things like this CAUTION tape hanging on the fence that we found interesting.

Horseshoe

Hanging horseshoes is said to bring good luck. It has been said that hanging it with points up catches good luck; however hanging it with points down pours good luck on you. We'd rather have the good luck coming down on us.

Brown & Blue

An old run down building in the old warehouse district of just about any metropolitan city looks about the same as this. The building once housed many workers but now sits in silence and is filled with dust and the silent echoes of modern progress. Troubled clouds pass overhead slowly as time continues on.

The Shack

Not exactly the love shack but then, when you discover an old building such as this, you have to wonder: Who lived here? What was their life like? Did they have a family? You can almost imagine a family here, with children int he front yard and a lady hanging the wash in the back. It's amazing the images of past times that come to mind when you come across something like this. If you stare at it long enough, you can just create your own story for this rustic, run-down little home.

Barbed

It was once said that a man's castle is his home but it shouldn't be a fortress. Yet there's always something in our lives that we are trying to protect. It could be our family, our possessions or some secret. The barbed wire here is a reminder of the extent we sometimes go to protect what is valuable to us.

Pier Pressure

This was taken actually under a bridge near a dam. What's interesting about the beams is the plants growing out of the top of the shorter ones. It has been said that nature finds a way....well, if you ask us, she found one here.

Red Spikes

These spikes adorn the top of a gate downtown Augusta at a location that was formerly a medical school. It was originally painted red and then black but now it is simply rusting and flaking. However, Dion found the contrast in paints on the spiral of the ends to be interesting and snapped the photo. The background has been faded to black and white so that the spikes obviously stand out in better contrast.

Silos Says

These silos stand silently by watching over the terrain as a silent testament to a dairy farm that once stood nearby. One roof has collapsed inward and they are being overgrown with ivy and kudzu. These silent sentinels tower over nearby trees but are still a sight to behold.

Downtown Afternoon

There's nothing like taking a stroll down a sidewalk in a quiet, quaint downtown city. This quiet photo was taken on a sidewalk in Augusta, GA, one sunny Sunday afternoon. There are little shops, cafes and restaurants that line the downtown area of Broad Street. It's a great place to shop, grab a bite to eat or just simply visit. Many of these buildings are historical and bring back feelings and images of times gone by.

Blue Sky

There's something to be said for older buildings in cities and towns. This is one such building in Augusta, GA. It's the balcony, the arched windows and the finer details of the front of the building. Try as they might, they just don't build them the same any more.

Cobblestone Walkway

If you've ever been to Savannah, GA, you may recognize this walkway off River Street. These old arches are along one of the walkways leading down to River Street. Again this is another black and white photo with just the color of some of the greenery restored to add a new dimension to it. There is something classic about it but modern at the same time.

Railroad Tracks Under Blue Sky

The stark landscape in black & white gives way to the calm, bright serenity of a blue sky that would otherwise be lost in the background.
