This painting is fairly recent. It is a part of my geometric/ abstract series which is an exploration of color theory. The sentiment behind this painting is one experienced by nearly all artists; that feeling that although a work is finished, it is difficult to recognize that point when one is fully consumed by the process of creating.

This image explores ideas of scale in the traditional landscape. Although placing the horizon at the midline is somewhat untraditional composition, in this piece it is intentional because the horizon serves as a mirror between the distant objects of palm trees and the foreground birdlife. I used sepia postprocess to enhance this effect with monotone treatment.

I am a huge fan of the happy accidents produced by double exposures. Now with digital photography and post process, the ability to manipulate and control the end result of overlayed imagery is a playground to which I am constantly returning. I am guided in this arena by the desire to create a mood or feeling or symbolic message.
