All of this has been done on my computer using software such as 3ds Max and Photoshop. Most of the images in this gallery have a very specific meaning. There are summaries of the essays in the image's descriptions and the full essays can be found on my blog: http://philosophyart.blogspot.com/.

This image symbolizes the concept of sequestration. Sequestration in this sense signifies a withdrawal into a false reality that is simply given. There are many aspects in society that can distract a person from the things that are essential to that individual’s wholeness and overall well-being. This can be a voluntary withdraw or it can be an involuntary act. In the case of voluntary sequestration, this comes in the various forms of entertainment seen in society such as in television and shopping malls. An individual is distracted by these things and engages in these forms of entertainment instead of engaging and experience life to the fullest and their sense of self is also neglected. Involuntary sequestration comes in the form of restrictions that exist because of structures in society or relationships that can squelch a person’s individuality and creativity. Institutions such as schools that teach people what to think instead of how to think. In these institutions a person’s individuality is restricted, discouraged, or isn’t even allowed to flourish at all. In relationships there may be parents or a spouse that restricts or inhibits the growth of a person’s character and identity.

The room looks very old and dilapidated. The cages, chalkboards, podium, represent the act of sequestration and the effects are symbolized through the dead plants and overall lifeless feel of the room. There are four exits in the room. The three that are obvious are through the door, through the window, and up through the staircase. The forth exit is the easel with the unfinished painting in the middle. Painting a piece of original art requires a person to be creative. While being creative a person no longer deals with something that is prepackaged, or simply given, but is able to produce something unique that can convey meaning that expresses that person’s individuality. This expression of a person’s identity leads

Siena

This image is named after the town Siena in Italy.

Static

This image is part of a series I did based on the concept of sequestration. This room represents the concept of involuntary sequestration. Through this an individual fails to engage and experience life to the fullest and their sense of self is also neglected.

The room has a very dilapidated, run-down look to it. This symbolizes the lifeless effect of sequestration can have on a person. There is a doll on the rocking chair in the middle. A doll is static, it can’t move on its own, someone has to actually come into the room and pick it up in order for it to move. This doll symbolizes someone who is sequestered involuntarily. This individual is bound to restrictions set forth by situations, circumstances, and institutions. Outside of the room we see hints of green shrubs and we see sunlight pouring through the windows which indicates that there is another world outside of this room that is full of life. There are no open doors or windows that can represent escaping this sequestration, because in the case of involuntary sequestration a person has no choice other than to be sequestered. A person might be able to see or even dream of an existence

Rebirth

The image's story moves from the right side with the red mural and cage and ends on the left side with the window. The right side of the image represents the concept of sequestration. Sequestration in this sense signifies a withdrawal into a false reality that is simply given. The left side of the image represents life itself. This is an existence outside of sequestration, in which a person defines who they are and who they want to be. Their authentic self is encouraged, allowed to flourish, and is constantly renewed. The rich colors along with the plants represent this existence, while the mirror represents the constant need to look upon oneself honestly to grow further. The paint buckets and mural that is unfinished represents the creativity of an individual and the never-ending work that is to be done to achieve wholeness.

The far left side of the room represents the possibilities and opportunities that come with this life outside of sequestration. The telescopes and maps represent these possibilities.

Looking overall at the image we see the building looks very run down. There are tombstones and dead grass on in the courtyard. These things point to the restricted and lifeless existence inside sequestration. The building and courtyard surrounding it represent sequestration itself while the area beyond the building and courtyard represent a life outside sequestration. The open window and ladder symbolizes the escape while the bicycle represents a vehicle of freedom. The area beyond the courtyard and building has very rich colors. The blue sky, green trees and plants represent the experience of freedom outside of sequestration where a person is able to achieve wholeness, and is able to engage in life to the fullest w
