Blue Water

One of my favorite past times is to wonder around with my camera and just shoot and shoot and shoot. So while on the set of a recent movie, (a horror movie called, "Hidden Darkness"), I was treated to some unexplored landscapes. During our lunch break I set off to shoot. Because of the location, out deep in farm land, all I thought I was going to be able to shoot was the sky, the grass, rocks, etc. Then I come around this old shed and find this very full, but hardly ever used swimming pool. The water was so eerily calm, and the reflection was so, er, nightmarish. The whole scene just fit right in with the theme of the movie.

Comb

Normally I would talk on and on, giving each picture a story of such detail. For this series though, I bring out my most personal side. My love of mystery. Never will I talk about what these are pictures of. (Unless you where there when I shot.) I will say this. These pictures are indeed photos. Except for the framing set up, no modifications where used in creating these effects. These are all in camera. Sometimes the light hits the lens just right and there’s no point in even trying to focus. The city by night, the city by day. Forcing focus, forcing contrast. Bring out the basic shapes and colors of what we see everyday. Full View is Must!

Coming Light

While on a movie shoot, with the summer heat being unbearable, I snuck outside and parked my butt on the veranda while the rest of the crew boiled inside. To occupy myself I indulged in a favorite past time of mine and took a bunch of available light shots. This shot is of this huge yard about 30min after sunset. The purplish light you see on the left hand side of this shoot is an approaching car about 50 feet away. The Grass wasn’t this green in the daylight, but for some reason the camera decided to bring out the greens and reds during the exposure.

Lonely

While staying at a friends place in the country I decided to go for a walk and then just sat on the side of the road. There where no cars, so I decided to snap a picture and have some fun with it.

While on a movie shoot in the middle of the woods, I had the opportunity to wonder off by myself and explore. I must have walk for 20 minutes deeper into the woods. The trees got more dense as I went. Then all of a sudden I came upon a clearing, a swamp! Duck, Geese, and deers here and there drinking and relaxing. The first thing to grab my attention though was this dead tree on the edge of the swamp. So I got as close as I could and snapped off these wonder full pictures. And this broken tree reminded me of a huge broken bone sticking out of the ground.

Everything is Okay

While walking with good friend of mine along a lonely path location on the insides of a city she reaches out and for no reason at all takes my hand. We continue walking without words. None needed. A house comes upon us. I take a picture. This is the picture. Somehow the perfect representation of the moment. What lay inside this window? I will never know. for a boy who never loved his fingers were to strong for a girl who never dared her fist did not just hit the table

While going on a small walk about I found this lonely little tree sitting upon a hill.

On in Toronto

The CN tower in Toronto reflected in the glass window of a very very expensive car dealership.

Snuff Alley

Often we can be distracted by what is under our feet. The pavement rushing buy as we walk, small sprouts of grass pushing through the cracks. It is above me that most interests me. The corners of buildings. The long pipes running along side a building. The drippy mix of melting brick colors. Don’t be afraid. Tourists do it all the time. Look up in your city instead of looking down! There is a whole world waiting for you!

Four AM. The sun is barely breaking through the darkness. My favorite, but least visited time. On this day, this deathly humid and hot Ottawa morning, I had positioned myself to be in the exactly place(s) I needed to be. To satisfy my soul and pay tribute to my youth. Walking among the streets capturing image after image, the camera taking over my past creating my new future.

Wonderland

Ah look at those tiny feet way up there! If you look even closer you might even catch a smile here and there, might catch a screaming mouth. The metal hold this all together, but don’t be fooled, it’s not about safety, it’s about fun fun fun!

As the night came to me after a day of shooting on a chilly Spring day I look to the North and capture this amazing vision of the clouds rolling by.
