Bois Blanc Island is just north of Cheboygan, Michigan and east of the Straits of Mackinac Bridge to Saint Ignace. Northwest of Bois Blanc Island is the smaller Mackinac Island. At the bottom center is a portion of Burt and Mullet Lakes. At the extreme top right is the South Channel from Munuscong Bay to Potagangnissing Bay, along the U.S.-Canada border; with a small portion of Saint Joseph Island, Ontario, Canada at the top right image edge. Cheboygan is very close to the centroid of the transformation from the North American Datum of 1927 (NAD27) to the 1983 (WGS84/NAD83) datums ... so very little change in the X,Y coordinates from NAD27 to NAD83 ... and did you ever wonder where the coffier term Mullet came from?
