The addition was recently opened to the public. The architecture of the new wing is quite stark, particularly in comparison to the Beaux Arts style of the original museum to which this new structure is attached. Makes for a good contrast, particularly for an art museum.

This shot shows Federal Hall in New York City. The site of Federal Hall, located on Wall Street, is where George Washington took the oath of office as the first President in 1789 and was also the site of the first Congress, Supreme Court and Executive Branch offices. The original Federal Hall structure was demolished in 1812 and was replaced with this structure in 1842. This picture was taken during a gray, snowy day, and my processing attempted to keep that feeling.

In an ironic twist, the building is now the headquarters of General Motors.

This sculpture is named 'Transcending' and was a gift of Detroit's labor unions to commemorate the city's 300th birthday. The sculpture is located at the edge of Hart Plaza in downtown Detroit, Michigan.

The image was a digital image processed to have the look of black and white film, including film grain. This gives the image a slightly 'grittier' look than a simple digital black and white image.
