Heavy Coat

It's 100 degrees here on this posting date, and the snow in this pic looks mighty appealing! But it's a good thing this buffalo I "shot" near Zion National Park in Utah in December 2009 had a heavy coat!

Impervious

The buffalo were impervious to the nearly blizzard-like conditions. Needless to say, I wasn't out there too long--it wasn't one of those times where I took 100 shots hoping I would get at least one good one! :)

Standing Watch

The older buffalo appears to be standing watch over the young one. This pic was taken near Zion National Park in Utah in December 2009.

Mule Deer

I "captured" this young mule deer at Zion National Park in Utah in December 2011.

Bull Elk

This bull elk was with a herd of elk in a meadow near Fern Canyon on the coast of Northwestern California.

It's not immediately evident, but if you look closely you will see an elk fawn nursing.

Porcupine

Porcupines climb trees and eat the bark in the winter.
