Luv Bugs

Plecia nearctica, love bugs, the spring and fall scourge of Florida. Nothing seems to be interested in them for food, perhaps because of the acidity of the eggs. Females live about 4 days - unless smashed onto the front of a car or windshield. Here, the female has hauled the boy onto a Bidens alba in hopes of getting a little sip of nectar.
