"Three Apples" These apples signify the beauty of fall when the apple crops are ready for picking. We grew these in our small orchard at Home Farm Herbery. I can still remember the day our late son, Fred and I planted these trees. This original gouache watercolor is still for sale on my website.

Buddha's Umbrella

Every year, in my garden at Home Farm Herbery, this massive iris emerges and grows over this small stone buddha sheltering it from nature's elements like a natural umbrella. Buddha's Umbrella is an original gouache painting that was sold immediately upon completion.

Ripening Fruit

Apple trees and Pear trees were planted many years ago in our orchard at Home Farm Herbery by me and our late son, Fred. We planted these for the future thinking Fred would be enjoying the fruit long after I was gone. However, Fred unexpectedly passed away at the age of 40 in August 2000 and now we enjoy the memory of Fred each year through the fruit. Perhaps I should have named this gouache watercolor painting, Fred's Fruit.

Arlene's Apples

"Arlene's Gardening Jacket" is a 12" x 9" Gouache watercolor painting on Cansons 100% acid free watercolor painting and it is unmatted and unframed. Award winning American artist, Arlene Wright-Correll says, "About 15 years ago I had started to make some quilt patches. Who knows why as I did not intend to make a quilt and I found 3 button up sweatshirts on sale in Wal-mart one day which I purchased and proceeded to put a quilt patch on the back of each and make pockets on the front of each side with smaller quilt patches. I eventually sold one in the campground store, gave one away as a gift and retained the black one for my own use. It has served me well and I usually wear it whenever I do outside work and often in the art studio when there is a chill. It has gotten pretty ragged and has evidence of art work on it where paint has spattered or I have wiped my hands or even a paint brush now and then. Lately I have thrown it in the trash about 4 times. However, like a small child with it's security "woobie" I haul it out just before the trash is taken down the drive, wash it one more time and put it back on. When the day warms up as I work outside this old faded jacket comes off and is hung on the nearest post. Today I decided to paint a picture of it. I have omitted the landscape background because I felt it would take away from the jacket. Just about every thing an artist paints has a story and this is the story of this painting titled "Arlene's Gardening Jacket". My Grandmother's Button Jars

The other day a short story of mine titled, "My Grandmother's Button Jars*" was published and it is a childhood memory of playing with those buttons. Today I was in the mood to paint and decided I would work on a daily painting which is usually a miniature. However, I did this 12" x 16" Mixed Media painting on Fredrix art canvas using Dr. PH.
