The addition was recently opened to the public.  The architecture of the new wing is quite stark, particularly in comparison to the Beaux Arts style of the original museum to which this new structure is attached.  Makes for a good contrast, particularly for an art museum.

&lt;img src="http://s35.sitemeter.com/meter.asp?site=s35allencreek" width="1" alt=""&gt;&lt;/a&gt;This picture shows the entrance to the original Alumni Hall at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.  The hall was built as a memorial to UM students who had served in various wars.  Construction was begun in 1907 and was dedicated in 1910.  In 1946, the University of Michigan Museum of Art took over the entire building.  Recently a new, modern, addition was added to the side of the building to allow for the viewing of more of the art museum's collection.

&lt;img src="http://s35.sitemeter.com/meter.asp?site=s35allencreek" width="1" alt=""&gt;&lt;/a&gt;This is Burton Tower, a bell tower located on Central Campus at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.  The tower was built in 1936 as a memorial to University President Marion Leroy Burton.  The design of the tower is a mixture of Art Deco and Art Moderne and the design was greatly influenced by noted architect Eliel Saarinen.   The top of the tower is the 43-ton, 55-bell Baird Carillon.

&lt;img src="http://s35.sitemeter.com/meter.asp?site=s35allencreek" width="1" alt=""&gt;&lt;/a&gt;This is a shot of Hill Auditorium on the campus of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.  Hill Auditorium was designed by Albert Kahn and dedicated in 1913.  The building was named in honor of Arthur Hill, a Saginaw lumber baron who bequeathed the bulk of the buildings cost.  Arthur Hill was also a University of Michigan regent.

The auditorium is located in the central campus area of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.  The auditorium, including the plaza area, underwent a major renovation a few years ago, and the building almost looks new.  The building was designed by architect Albert Kahn, and is famous for its wonderful acoustics.

The school was modeled after Cambridge University and is a very beautiful campus.  This image was shot in color and converted to a toned black &amp; white.

&lt;img src="http://s35.sitemeter.com/meter.asp?site=s35allencreek" width="1" alt=""&gt;&lt;/a&gt;This is a shot of the Legal Research Building at the University of Michigan Law School.  The building is part of the "Law Quad" built in the late 20's and early 30's.  The school is modeled after Cambridge University.

The image itself was originally color, but it was converted to black &amp; white.  I also added some film grain to enhance the vintage feeling of the image.

The building, parts of which were begun in 1924, contains dormitory and other spaces for students attending the school.  The Law School buildings themselves were funded through a donation by William Cook.

&lt;img src="http://s35.sitemeter.com/meter.asp?site=s35allencreek" width="1" alt=""&gt;&lt;/a&gt;This is a picture of the Rackham Building at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.  The building houses the Rackham School of Graduate Studies administrative offices, as well as lecture halls, study rooms and a small auditorium.  Construction started in 1936 and the building was dedicated in 1938.  The building is a showplace for architectural details, designed by the architect William Kapp and executed by sculptor Corrado Parducci.

The sculptures were the work of Marshall Fredericks, a noted sculptor.  This particular sculpture is more whimsical than the others that he did for the building, this one depicting two baboons, symbolizing music and science.

Hill Auditorium is located on the campus of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.  It was designed by famed architect Albert Kahn.  The auditorium has many interesting details, including this one, which is a tile embedded in the brickwork on the front of the auditorium.  The tile was manufactured by Pewabic Pottery located in Detroit, Michigan.
