I like to hike around the nature parks and take pictures of whatever crosses my path. Sometimes it's wild pigs rooting for acorns, sometimes it's just a dragonfly.

From what I can tell, this pretty lady is a banana spider or golden silk orb-weaver. She had built her web across a hiking path I was exploring.

This was one of my earliest pictures, as you can probably tell. Yes, it's blurry, even at its full resolution, but I've always been fond of it nonetheless. I like the way the sliver of moon is sort of swinging like Poe's pendulum in the sky, and that shadowy figure on the boardwalk, who was he? There are stories all around us, all the time.

This is just for fun. I don't actually expect anybody to buy this, but you never know!

I used to work at an animal shelter, doing various things including some marketing. This big ol' torti cat, Selene, had been sitting around in the Cat Room waiting to be adopted for almost a year, and I thought it was high time we upped the stakes and really tried to promote her. I decided to take some fresh pictures of her for our Web site and posters. She gave me this. I ran with it: "Hey! Enough's enough! If I have to make goofy faces to get your attention and find a home, I will!"

It took another couple of months, but she did finally get adopted by a nice girl.
