The Ceryneian Hind was one of the most cherished companions of the goddess Artemis. Though the massive deer was female, she had golden antlers and was rumored to be faster than a speeding arrow.

The tree is an almond tree, which is one of the symbols for Artemis.

Misery for Mariners

Based on an old wives' tale. Crush your eggshells when you are done with them, or witches will make boats of them and terrorize sailors:

"Oh, never leave your eggshells unbroken in the cup,
Think of us poor sailor-men and always smash them up,
For witches come and find them and sail away to sea,
And make a lot of misery for mariners like me."

The Sirens' Lure

Part of my Greek mythology series.

The three Sirens were said to be the companions of Persephone, and were given wings by Demeter to aid in their search when she was abducted by Hades. Half-bird and half-women, they sing to any ship that passes near their island. Their voices were so enchanting and their music so irresistible that they lured any victim to a shipwrecked death upon the rocky coast.

The Chimera

Part of my Greek mythology series.

"The Chimera who breathed raging fire, a creature fearful, great, swift footed and strong, who had three heads, one of grim-eyed lion, another of a goat, and another of a serpent. In her forepart she was a lion; in her hinderpart a dragon; and in her middle part, a goat, breathing forth a fearful blast of blazing fire."

Europa & the Bull

Based upon the Greek myth of Europa and the Bull. Icarus' father made them wings of feathers, string, and wax so they could escape the Labyrinth, but Icarus flew too close to the sun and plummeted to the sea.

Actaeon

Part of my Greek mythology series.

The great hunter Actaeon happened upon the chaste goddess Artemis bathing in the forest with her maidens. Infuriated, she turned the boastful hunter into a stag and sent his own dogs upon him. Not knowing that the stag was actually their beloved master, the dogs feasted upon him.

Time Flies

It is a common misconception that Germans were the first to utilize chemical warfare. This is far from the truth, as records from medieval China mention the use of mustard gas in 4th century BC.

So here are some little soldiers painted in the style of old Chinese paintings... with modern-day gas masks.

The script says "Time Flies" and the red stamp acts as the artist signature/seal (it contains the Chinese characters for my name as well as a little dragonfly character).

Drops of Jupiter

Digital illustration heavily inspired by the story within the song "Drops of Jupiter" by Train and the mood of "Atlantic" by Thrice.
