Description 'Just Because I'm Leaving, that don't mean I'm Gone!'This was a commission in memory of Rufus Thomas.I had the pleasure of meeting him on few occasions. The first time I met him was at the Olympics in Atlanta. Him and William Bell and Percy Sledge were getting ready to do a show. I was invited to the Dressing room as I was taking pictures and so forth. Mr. Thomas was sitting at his dressing table he looked at me and said 'Come here and let me kiss you!' while he puckered his lips and stuck them out at me. I must have had a very perplexed look on my face, wondering how I got in that situation. He looked at me with big sparkling eyes and laughed so hard, as I inched my way to his face. He gave me a kiss smack dab on my forehead and said 'What did you think, on the forehead of course!' Oh it was so funny we all laughed and I was red faced. I liked him ever since. Of course he is now in Heaven doing the Chicken Dance and Walking Dog! Love you Rufus!
Ginette Callaway, Lovejoy Member Since March 2007 Artist Statement I am an independent, self supporting artist, working full time on my art. Full time means about on average 12 hours a day seven days a week. This is how I pay my bills. However I absolutely love what I do. Creating art consumes me. I paint original art with oil paints, watercolors, also ink and pastel. Additionally I use the photos of my art or scans to create mixed media, where I use digital tools to layer texture or change the colors of these original paintings. Not a day goes by where I don't create something new.
If you want an original painted just for you, contact me. I take requests on my website.

I was born in Alsace France and from childhood on, I had Art and a Love for Nature and beauty in my blood. In my younger years I traveled and saw a bit of the world. After moving to the Unites States I became a full time artist with collectors from all over the world.
