Artist Statement Elizabeth Wiley balances between truly abstract and as she refers “loosely interpreted horses”.
“My style is loose and free. There are graphic elements with playful layers of paint. I want to capture the gracefulness of dressage and the communication between horse and rider. I simplify the image and often leave areas unpainted or left out. My paintings are time capsules, capturing the emotion of the moment in each painting. I hope that my work inspires love for horses and expresses the elegance of theses wonderful beings.”
Elizabeth, who attributes her mom for the love of horses, is now passing that love onto her two children who are now taking dressage lessons.
Her work has been featured in Crate and Barrel, The Chronicle of the Horse, Horse and Style Magazine and on the book cover of The Dressage Way by Susan Medenica.
