Description Watercolor art print of the skyline of San Antonio with a white border around the print. This image was created by traditional and digital watercolors. The Maps feature vibrant color schemes and interesting cartographic elements distinct to each map. The aim is to create accurate maps that are readable, informative and graphically interesting. Each custom map will reflect a particular geographic location and it will reflect the individual characteristics the area. All of our painted maps are designed our private studio near the base of the Appalachian mountains, the up-state of South Carolina.
WaterColor Maps, Greenville SC USA Member Since December 2013 Artist Statement I (Chris) have a 20-year history in photography and digital design. I worked as an Outward Bound wilderness for two years. and spent up to 30 days at A time "lost in the woods." This gave me an appreciation for how to read AND appreciate maps. I also spent six years in the Marine Corps and developed a higher love of Maps, being sleep deprived and pushups. After the Marines I stated a business creating military graphics for various branches of the service, fire departments, and retired veterans. My years of making custom military art and paintings helped me fine-tune the creative process I use for my maps. I refined my use of sophisticated imaging software, digital painting and traditional painting. The end results of this experience and methods are maps that are interesting, vibrant, and totally unique!
My partner, Mary Ann, has a great eye for detail and design, and she is a wordsmith at heart. She will handle your orders and all the behind the scenes of running a very successful graphics business. Along with our maps, we operate TheOldFern.com which specializes in botanical and natural history prints.
It is our belief that we should offer a quality product at a fair price, and we do not "markup" our items in shipping costs like so many other venders. Any map we sell is a work of art. My works have been displayed in homes, government offices, and museums around the world.
