Description The Sun sinks over the ridge of the San Juan Mountains and shines through a rainstorm making it's way across the San Luis Valley. The valley is one of two rift valleys located on land worldwide, the San Luis spans an area roughly the size of Connecticut. This is a shot I took from the Sangre De Cristo Mountains.

Artist Statement Beauty is something that we need. It is unequivocally essential for the human soul to experience truth. And nothing is more beautiful than nature & the human form.

In spite of popular post modern detachment from beauty, all of us long for it. The earth is starving for the harmonious, the timeless, and the intelligible... the forms that comprise our astounding world.

I spent some time in art school and some time with a portrait company. But for me... art is spiritual. For instance, when I see the sunlight shinning on a mollusk as it clings to the shore, and it is at just such an angle that, that seemingly drab little creature... starts to shine, that's peculiarly edifying .
And better yet when the sun breaks through a storm, and the gold begins to play amongst the ominous clouds, turning grey into a spectrum of color... there are lessons to be learned from that, and I think most places.
I love to search for these "lessons" if you will, and occasionally I get to "capture" them...
It is my privilege to share some of those with you, they are some of the best memories of my life. And I hope that through them, the beauty of this world can find you, in the way that it finds me.
