LizStar Books Member Since August 2006 Artist StatementLizStar Books is a new publisher specializing in young adult and teen fiction and nonfiction. It seeks to publish memorable young adult literature that inspires a sense of hope and wonder.
The Publisher: Tracy E. Banghart, the founder and director of LizStar Books, holds a BA in English from Davidson College (North Carolina) and a MA in Publishing from Oxford Brookes University (England). Tracy worked for several years as an editor and developed the concept of founding a publishing company as an outgrowth of her master's degree work. She is personally involved in every aspect of publication at LizStar Books, including writing, editing, design and composition, illustration, typesetting, printing and marketing.
Set in a mysterious and isolated corner of coastal Maine, this haunting novella tells the tale of Victoria, a young woman who has a strange relationship with the sea.
The Illustrator: A marine ecologist by trade, Julia C. Blum has had a lifelong fascination with the sea. Her interest in illustration and graphic design date back almost as far. Trained in a wide variety of media, her work emphasizes the careful use of line to create images with a classic, simple grace. She can currently be found peering into tide pools along the Northern California coast in pursuit of a doctoral degree in Ecology from the University of California, Davis.
