Description I shot this Art print Photograph as this double masted schooner sailed across our bow capturing this spectacular shot of her making way under full sail. It is one within my collection of my 'Nautical Art Print Photographs' series taken while sailing the coastline of Maine and southern New England. Note I've added a subtle texture that gives the art print an artistic visual quality. My most popular images have a classic nautical maritime theme similar to this one. If you enjoy images of scenes on or near the sea look for similar pieces here in my online gallery.
Mary-Anne Ganley, Coastal New England Member Since March 2009 Artist Statement ARTIST BIO Born and raised in the Hudson River Valley region and presently residing in a small coastal village south of Boston. I originally arrived in the Boston area from New York to study painting at the Art Institute of Boston. it is here where I earned my degree in Illustration and Design. After which I pursued a professional career in the magazine publishing industry as a senior editorial art director and also as a freelance illustrator. Over the past several years I have owned a freelance art & design business where I create art and design for clients throughout New England and across the country. My work has been featured in national magazine publications and my painting and photography has been shown in juried art shows and galleries throughout the Cape Cod, Boston and New York regions and can also be found in several private art collections.
Summers you can usually find me sailing the New England coastline. It is during these adventures on the wind where I capture many of my images and gather reference material for my paintings. Winters are spent devoted to creating artwork in my studio in addition to keeping those home fires burning.
ARTIST STATEMENT I cannot think of any one thing that appeals to my senses more than that of a beautiful piece of art, I find pure elation in the visual experience. So to be where I am today, as an artist, is one of the few things in my life that truly makes sense. I believe art lives all around us—when noticed, takes us on an exciting inner journey. I try to pass on my love for all things artistic through the two genres I've found to be the most gratifying over the years, oil painting and fine art photography. What inspires me, beyond that which surrounds me in my everyday life, is the profound admiration I have for the art masters of both yesterday and today, be it a classic Degas, contemporary Rothko or the work of my fellow creative peers.
